Bio

After graduating from Kutztown State (before it became Kutztown University) I taught in the Reading School District for twenty years - most of the time as a first grade teacher. Although I loved working with little kids, the time had come to be a stay at home mom with my own family (husband Ken and three children - Kenny, Robert & Kelly Anne. The time went quickly and I soon found myself as a volunteer parent in my children’s school library when my youngest child began kindergarten. This led to my second career as a library technician.

Before I settled down, I managed to spend some time traveling with trips that included Germany, the Netherlands, Australia as well as quite a few trips to several states. I still correspond with friends from “down under” and have many fond memories of the penguins at Philip’s Island, the tazmanian devils we saw in Tasmania and the koalas and kangaroos that roamed the countryside.

I joined the Alvernia “family” in June of 1997 and found it to be one of the best decisions I have ever made. My main responsibilities are the circulation desk and interlibrary loans. At times the latter can be very frustrating but it can also be very rewarding. I just love it when I can find a book or journal article that a patron needs for a project.
