Long Quotations:
Quotations that are longer than 40 words are placed in a
double-spaced block of typewritten lines with no quotation
marks. Start typing it on a new line and indent the block 1/2" (5 spaces) from the left margin only.
Example:
Vooijs and Van der Voort (1993) identify several harmful effects
of
television violence.
If people become inured
to violence from seeing too much of it,
they may
react less sensitively to real-life aggression by, for
example,
not helping a victim. In addition, exposure to
TV
violence can strengthen the belief that aggression
is desirable
or acceptable to solve conflicts. (p.35)
Several studies have shown that greater viewing of
violence is positively
associated with attitudes favorable to the use of violence
(Dominick &
Greenberg, 1972; Greenberg, 1975). |
