Computer Refresh Program

New Technologies and Training

Computers will be upgraded to a newer model which will speed up applications and improve the user experience.

Some items to be aware of are listed as follows.

Computer Software

Windows 10 is the new standard computer operating system.   Educational Technology is offering classes on August 23rd.   To sign up click here.   Sessions will be recorded for those who are not able to attend.

A standard software bundle will be installed and supported by the Information Technology team.

If additional software is required after the refresh the Application Catalog* can be used to install some software packages or a ticket request can be submitted for IT assistance.

*The Application Catalog is an on-line listing of available software programs that can be installed on University computers.

See Additional Software Request section for more information.

Printers will be the same as prior to the refresh.

Office 2013

Office 2013 is the standard productivity software bundle.   The Ribbon looks slightly different but otherwise remains the same as in 2010. The interface is now much more touch-friendly for those using it on tablets or touch-screen devices.

Office 2013 applications have additional functions available.  Excel 2013 now supports multiple monitors and Word 2013 allows for PDF’s to be opened, edited and saved as DOCX or PDF documents.

Note: PDF documents are converted to Word to allow editing.
