The Psychology and Counseling Department at Alvernia University will host its 3rd annual Conference for the Human Services on June 11, 2010. This conference is intended to provide training opportunities for counselors, psychologists, social workers and other professionals working in the human services in Berks, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, and Schuylkill Counties. It begin with registration at 8:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. Lunch is included in the conference registration fee.
This year the conference will be held in Bernardine Hall on Main Campus with lunch served in the campus dining hall. In addition to the change in location, there will be a keynote address by Dr. Andres Pumariega, Section Head of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. The title of Dr. Pumariega’s presentation will be “Culturally informed human services provision: Addressing racial/ ethnic disparities.”
As in the past, continuing education for licensed professional counselors, licensed social workers, licensed clinical social workers and certified addictions counselors will be offered. This year we are pleased to welcome licensed psychologists to the conference. Continuing education for Licensed Psychologists is being provided through the Reading Hospital and Medical Center. The Reading Hospital and Medical Center is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. This program is co-sponsored by Alvernia University and The Reading Hospital and Medical Center who maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
