Alvernia

2006-07 — A YEAR OF PLANNING FOR EXCELLENCE

J. Michael Pressimone Vice President for Advancement
All of our priorities... assume special significance because they support a broader, shared vision for the future.

The 2006-07 academic year was a year for making plans – big plans – to guide Alvernia into the next half century with a profound appreciation for the pioneer spirit exhibited by the Bernardine Franciscan Sisters who founded Alvernia College in 1958.

As a campus community, we drafted a new mission and vision statement, fueling our work on a new strategic plan and a campus master plan to shape our identity as a regional Franciscan university.

In addition, we planned and introduced our first ever comprehensive capital campaign, Values and Vision, to cultivate the financial resources to realize our strategic goals.
All of our priorities – renovated buildings, endowed professorships, increased scholarship opportunities, or even academic improvements like our new Centers for Community Engagement and for Ethics and Leadership – assume special significance because they support a broader, shared vision for the future, one characterized by the strongest possible academic experience for all our students that offers personal and social transformation through integrated, community-based, inclusive, and ethical learning.

Thank you for your continued support. Your generous gifts are a measure of your  confidence in Alvernia as we move forward, guided by a renewed focus on our Franciscan values, an inspirational mission and vision, and a commitment to affordable, quality private education in the Franciscan tradition.
