The transformation of Alvernia’s campus continues with the construction of the Campus Commons, a building that will directly enhance the student experience for commuter and resident students alike. It will dramatically expand space for student recreation with a magnificent two-story fitness center and a huge “campus living room” where students can congregate, socialize and relax and which will provide a wonderful venue for campus activities/events. In addition, the facility will feature meeting rooms for student clubs and organizations and will house the offices of University Life, centralizing the staff which deals with student life issues in one location. Not only will the Commons be a wonderfully dynamic and functional space, the building design is dramatic and adds a new flair and dimension to the campus.
Students are so excited about the facility that the Student Government Association pledged $150,000 of their resources to make the Commons a reality. As we continue to seek funding for this important project, Board of Trustee member Tom Martell and his wife, Marcia, have stepped forward with a generous gift as a challenge to parents to help complete this much needed facility. They believe so strongly in how the Commons will positively impact student life that they have pledged to match, dollar for dollar - up to $50,000, gifts made by Alvernia Parents in support of this project.
Gifts can be a one-time contribution or can be made over a period of five years. Naming opportunities (including those in honor of your son or daughter) begin at $1,000 – or $200 per year. Gifts can be made by check, credit card or securities.
