Graduate Assistant - Distance Education for On-Line Learning and Study Abroad
Fall 2009 - Part-Time – Year Round – 20 Hours Per Week
The student must be enrolled full-time.
(9 credits in the Fall, 9 credits in the Spring, 6 credits in the Summer).
Summary of Duties:
The incumbent in this position works under the supervision of the Director of Distance Education by assisting with the following:
- Train the distance education student population in the use of on-line learning tools.
- Troubleshoot for distance education initiatives involving video-conferencing, course management and/or web-based research databases.
- Contribute to web portal development via podcasts, vodcasts and e-newsletters.
- Research and collect data of on-line learning and study abroad resources.
- Work on office management tasks as assigned including recordkeeping and documentation.
- Undertake various projects as guided by the Director of Distance Education.
- Serve on University-wide committees as assigned.
- Follow the Graduate Assistant Handbook.
- Other duties as requested.
- Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in an Alvernia graduate program.
- Strong communication skills.
- Familiar with Microsoft Office.
- Open to learning new media skills and programs.
