Graduate Assistant – Alumni and Annual Fund

Part-Time – Year Round – 20 Hours Per Week

The student must be enrolled full-time during the Fall and Spring Semesters
(9 credits in the Fall, 9 credits in the Spring, up to 9 credits in the Summer).

Summary of Duties:

The incumbent in this position will assist in the administrative tasks and activities of the Office of Institutional Advancement, primarily with the offices of Alumni Relations and office of Annual Giving, and have the opportunity to learn and collaborate on several key operational initiatives throughout the year.

Major Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze current regional alumni events to improve attendance and content.
  • Assist in the management and planning of Homecoming and Family Weekend.
  • Participate in various Alumni events as time permits.
  • Review and analyze current phone-a-thon program and assist Direct of Annual Giving in improving the program based on current trends in higher education.
  • Assist in the management and implementation of Senior Class Giving program.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of comprehensive student philanthropy program based on current trends in higher education.
  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Research current trends and best practices in higher education for effective use of social networking in Alumni and Donor Relations.
  • Assist in maintaining alumni and donor records in University database.
  • Conduct various advancement and alumni research and analysis projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree and current enrollment in an Alvernia graduate program.
  • Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of the University.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Advance PC skills (including entire MS office suite) and the ability to learn the University’s database management system.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Self-directed, organizational and time management skills are essential.
