POSITION TITLE:

Groundskeeper/Utility Person (Part-Time)

JOB SUMMARY:

The incumbent in this position will assist in the maintenance of all University grounds turf and landscape care, plantations, athletic field care and preparation, equipment maintenance, snow removal, pruning of trees and shrubs, maintenance of parking lots, roads and walkways as deemed necessary in support of the institution's mission, strategic and master planning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Grass cutting and weed trimming.
• Plant and bed material installation and maintenance.
• Fertilizing, watering and liming.
• Hardscape maintenance and installation.
• Snow removal.
• Pruning.
• Leaf cleanup and removal.
• Vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Set-ups.
• Furniture moving.
• General cleaning, pressure washing and light maintenance.
• Pest and insect control.
• Blade sharpening.
• Supply inventory control.
• Other duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION:

• High school graduate.
• Experience with mowing and grounds maintenance equipment.
• Knowledge of tree and shrub care.
• Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Alvernia University.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to lift and push up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to work in all weather elements.
• Attendance is required in order to perform the duties of this job.
