Computer Support Analyst, L1- PT

Job Summary:
The Computer Support Analyst provides Tier 1 customer service and technical support for installations and maintenance of computer and software technologies utilizing over the phone, remote communication technologies, and onsite support to service the faculty, staff and students.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist Alvernia faculty, staff, and students in the use of information technology
  • Configure and deploy new computer systems and peripherals
  • Performs break fix on University assets that include: AV, laptops, desktops, printers, peripherals, and other miscellaneous items
  • Install, maintain, update, troubleshoot and repair all computer related software, hardware and peripheral devices at the end user level
  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University.

Additional Responsibilities/Requirements:

  • Install university-licensed software on university-owned computers
  • Maintain accurate records of IT activities and duties
  • Support for Support Services initiatives as defined by the University; handle additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.


  • Commitment to the mission statement, core values and goals of Alvernia University
  • Minimum high school diploma
  • Minimum one year experience in a technically similar environment
  • Basic knowledge of PC and Mac operations, configuration, troubleshooting, and repair, including hardware and software issues
  • Basic knowledge of computer hardware components and software applications
  • Knowledge of Apple and Microsoft operating systems. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Basic understanding of an environment that is networked
  • Strong sense of responsibility to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to quickly master new and complex information technology systems
  • Ability to demonstrate continuous improvement
  • Excellent documentation practices and excellent ability to multitask
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with strong commitment to end-user support

Physical and Other Requirements:

  • Attendance is required in order to perform the duties of this job
  • Occasional travel to other Alvernia locations for maintenance or for projects, with little or no advance notice
  • Ability to lift and/or move substantially heavy computers and peripheral devices
  • Work schedules may vary to accommodate scheduled events and maintain Support Services hours of operation
  • This position is prohibited from providing administrative or personal passwords to any person who is not a Support Services employee without the expressed consent of the Manager of Support Services.
