Chief Information Officer
Alvernia University, a fast growing Franciscan university grounded in Catholic and liberal arts traditions, seeks a new Chief Information Officer (CIO) to lead the Division of Information Technology. The new CIO will report directly to the Provost and play a key role in strategic and technology planning to identify current and future needs, evaluate current trends in technology, and develop budgets to address the implementation of University technology plans. The CIO will provide leadership and oversight to 14 direct reports in the areas of network administration, help desk services, computer support services, education technology services, administrative computing, and distance education. This position will also be responsible for maintaining the full functionality of University information technology systems and ensuring a high level of customer service and support to University constituents.

Successful candidates should be seasoned administrative leaders who are committed to providing a high level of service and working with a dedicated and knowledgeable staff in a collaborative environment. The new CIO will remain current in instructional technologies, demonstrate a history of sound management in support services that includes strategic planning and budgeting, and possesses a learner-centered orientation to program/personnel development. A major initiative will be the expectation to operationalize the newly completed audit into a strategic IT plan. A collegial and collaborative approach to leadership, strong communication skills, a sound understanding of the mission of Alvernia University, and a student success-orientation are key. An undergraduate degree is required for this position, while a master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred. Five years of administrative experience and knowledge of higher education systems, practices, and policies are also required.
