Admissions Counselor- Bilingual

Job Summary: The Admissions Counselor is directly responsible for the recruitment of traditional undergraduate students to the University. The admissions counselor will manage all aspects of the admissions funnel for prospective students within an assigned geographic territory and/or set of academic programs. The counselor will be bilingual (Spanish) to assist the Enrollment team in communicating with Spanish speaking families.

Essential Functions:

  • Manage all aspects of recruiting efforts for specified territory/academic programs in order to meet stated recruitment goals
  • Build relationships with and assist prospective students throughout all phases of the enrollment cycle (inquiry through enrollment)
  • Conduct interviews, appointmens and group information sessions for prospective students and their families 
  • Conduct phone, e-mail and other contacts with prospective students throughout the admissions process
  • Review application files for admission and make appropriate decisions
  • Represent Alvernia University at college fairs, high schools, and other off-campus events
  • Be a point of contact for Spanish speaking families who visit campus, as well as a potential resource to the Marketing Department with development of materials in Spanish
  • Build relationships with parents, guidance counselors, and other external constituents
  • Act as a liaison to assigned academic departments
  • Promote Franciscan ideals and adherence to the Mission of the University and employee handbook.
  • Be the primary contace for Alvernia's relationship with Higher Education Coalition of Berks County (HECBC) and represent Alvernia at various functions throughout the year


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and develop relationships with faculty and staff of the University
  • Perform other services as deemed reasonable by the supervisor

  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
  • Availability for overnight travel as required
  • Proficient in the usage of computer programs (Microsoft Office) and technology
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Bachelor’s Degree
