- What is my WebCT ID and password?

- Your WebCT ID is : first 4 letters of your last name + last 4 digits of your student id example : hodd2345

- Your password: the password will be the same as your WebCT ID. In this case: hodd2345

- If you register your email address in webct account, you can reset your password by clicking on the "Forgot my password" section from the WebCT entry page. To do this, follow in the instructions below:

- Your instructor may or may not have the grade book feature enabled in a WebCT course. If your instructor is using the grade book, you will see all the grades for your course by clicking My Grades icon located on the homepage of the WebCT course.

- To send a private chat message to someone, please click/highlight the person's name on the right side column, write your message and press enter. The only person to see this message will be the highligted receipient. Private messages are not recorded.

- Please make sure that the course you are taking is a valid WebCT course. To add your WebCT course, please refer to question #2 - to send an online request or call for assistance.

- Most likely it will be a problem with your browser or your computer.

- Please check your internet connection

- Make sure you do not have a spyware installed on your computer blocking WebCT address. You can obtain free spyware/malware checking programs online. Please visit http://www.ewido.net/en/ to obtain a free spyware checker.

- Please call us to troubleshoot the problem over the phone.

The instructions below should help you uninstall the Google Toolbar and remove it from your browser:

1. Click on the "Settings" button located directly on your Google Toolbar. Please note that if you don't have a "Settings" button on your Toolbar, then you likely have an older version installed. Instead, please click on the Google logo button located to the left of your search box.

2. Choose "Help" and then "Uninstall."

3. Add comments about your experience with the Toolbar if you wish, then press the "Uninstall the Google Toolbar" button.

You can also uninstall the Toolbar through your Add or Remove Programs window. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows "Start" menu in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
2. Select "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Add or Remove Programs."
3. Find "Google Toolbar for IE" and click the "Remove" button.

 

The instructions below should help you uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar and remove it from your browser:

1.	Start Microsoft Internet Explorer.
2.	On the Yahoo! Companion browser toolbar, click the Edit button (it appears as a pencil), and then click Remove Yahoo! Companion on the shortcut menu that appears. NOTE: If you cannot see the Edit button, expand the Yahoo! Companion toolbar.
3.	You receive the following message: Uninstalling will remove Yahoo! Companion from your browser. Do you still want to remove Yahoo! Companion? Click Yes.
4.	You receive the following message: Yahoo! Companion has been uninstalled. Please restart your browser. Click OK.
5.	Quit Internet Explorer, and then restart it.

You can also uninstall the Toolbar through your Add or Remove Programs window. To do so, please follow these steps:

1. Click on the Windows "Start" menu in the lower left-hand corner of your screen.
2. Select "Settings" > "Control Panel" > "Add or Remove Programs."
3. Find "Yahoo Companion Toolbar " and click the "Remove" button.

 

Many businesses will block an access to a wide range of internet port numbers in their firewall infrastructure. WebCT runs on port 8900, which makes it an unsafe port for many businesses. Please refer to IT personel at your workplace and ask if this port is blocked.

Alvernia WebCT will NOT change the port number.
