Mission - Vision - Purpose

Consistent with the mission of Alvernia College, the vision and purpose of the Multicultural Affairs Committee is:

1. To promote understanding, unity and appreciation of the growing diversity of our campus, affirming the inherent value and dignity of each person, regardless of race, gender, national origin or religion.
2. To honor racial, ethnic and gender differences with respect and openness to the richness and wisdom of various groups.
3. To prepare Alvernia College students for responsible citizenship in their own nation and in the world community through understanding and appreciation of a multicultural society.
4. To help students recognize how diversity has shaped and continues to form our national identity and experience in the United States.
5. To provide opportunities for students to have significant interaction with indigenous peoples and cultures, and to encourage cultural interaction as a vital component for personal and academic development.
