Emergencies
There are a few situations that require an immediate response: When students
are in such significant emotional distress that their ability to function
is seriously impaired or when they pose a threat to themselves, others or
property.
Call the Counseling Center
- During regular business hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday: Call Tricia Kreider
at 610-568-1469
- Contact the Health & Wellness Office at 610-568-1467 OR
- Off hours (evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, semester breaks)
call Public Safety at 610-796-8350 and
ask them to contact Dr. Patricia Kreider.
Immediately When:
- A student makes overtly suicidal comments; e.g., referring to suicide
as a current option, or if they have a plan and the means to carry
out the plan.
- A student is experiencing impaired speech or garbled, disjointed
thoughts, bizarre or strange behavior that is obviously inappropriate
to the situation; e.g., talking to "invisible people" or
exhibiting paranoid thinking.
Call Campus Security at 610-796-8350 Immediately When:
- There are high levels of irritability, including unruly, aggressive
or violent behavior.
- There is serious and imminent threat to harm another person or property.
- Call Security in these situations whether the person is a student
or not.
