The mission of Counseling Services is to provide short-term counseling that is free of charge to all Alvernia students. These services will promote the mental health of students, improve the quality of their lives and aid them in achieving academic success.

Confidentiality

Probably the most important thing that students expect of the Counseling Center, in addition to being treated with concern and respect, is that what they say during a session will be held in strict confidence. We strongly protect students' confidentiality. The Consent for Counseling Services form that students sign before they even see a counselor describes the importance we place on confidentiality. Information may be released after receiving written consent from a student or when a student is in danger of harming him/herself or others.

We respect and protect the confidentiality of all students who seek help from us.
