Undergraduate Degrees for the Non-Traditional Student
Admissions of Transfer StudentsTransfer students from regionally accredited two and four year institutions are welcomed. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required. Some majors may require a higher grade point average. A maximum of 75 semester hours will be accepted in transfer from two year colleges, and students must complete a minimum of 45 credit hours at Alvernia College to be eligible to earn a degree. Students who are transferring from other institutions offering college level work must:
Admission of Continuing Studies Students:Students who bring significant work and life experience to the campus will be evaluated using criteria more appropriate to this background. Generally speaking, students with 5 years of full-time work experience and who are at least 24 years of age will be considered non-traditional. Students seeking admission to Alvernia College as a non-traditional student should follow these recommended procedures:
Continuing Studies Admissions Notification:Applicants are notified of a decision to Alvernia College as soon as all the credentials have been received and evaluated. Upon satisfactory completion of those requirements, an acceptance letter from the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies will be sent to the student. Full-time:Students enrolled in the Continuing Studies program with a least 12 credits each semester. These students are eligible for federal loans and must file the FAFSA to receive those awards. Part-time:Students enrolled in the Continuing Studies program with less than 12 credits each semester. These students are eligible for federal loans and must file the FAFSA to receive those awards. Evening/Saturdays:Students who generally take classes in the evening programs and on Saturdays at a set tuition of $360 per credit. These students are eligible for other forms of non- college financial aid programs, however, the FAFSA must be filed to receive the awards.
