Admissions of Transfer Students

Transfer students from regionally accredited two and four year institutions are welcomed. A minimum grade point average of 2.0 is required. Some majors may require a higher grade point average. A maximum of 75 semester hours will be accepted in transfer from two year colleges, and students must complete a minimum of 45 credit hours at Alvernia College to be eligible to earn a degree. Students who are transferring from other institutions offering college level work must:

  1. Submit an application form and the nonrefundable $25 application fee.
  2. Submit official transcripts of college work previously taken. An official transcript of all previous work is required whether a student has earned transfer credits or not, or whether a student wants transfer credits or not. Credit may be given for transfer courses in which the applicant has earned a "C" or higher.
  3. Transfer students are eligible for financial aid at the time of admission.

Admission of Continuing Studies Students:

Students who bring significant work and life experience to the campus will be evaluated using criteria more appropriate to this background. Generally speaking, students with 5 years of full-time work experience and who are at least 24 years of age will be considered non-traditional.

Students seeking admission to Alvernia College as a non-traditional student should follow these recommended procedures:

  1. Send the completed application and the $25 non-refundable application fee to the Admissions Office. This form may be obtained by contacting the Continuing Studies Division at 610-796-8228.
  2. Submit official transcript of secondary school grades or GED scores.
  3. Submit official transcripts of any previous colleges attended.
  4. Submit a copy of DD214 (official discharge paper from the service) if applicable.
  5. Applicants are urged to visit the campus and receive a student-guided tour as well as an interview with an Admissions Counselor.
  6. Scores from the SAT or ACT are not required.

Continuing Studies Admissions Notification:

Applicants are notified of a decision to Alvernia College as soon as all the credentials have been received and evaluated. Upon satisfactory completion of those requirements, an acceptance letter from the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies will be sent to the student.

Full-time:

Students enrolled in the Continuing Studies program with a least 12 credits each semester. These students are eligible for federal loans and must file the FAFSA to receive those awards.

Part-time:

Students enrolled in the Continuing Studies program with less than 12 credits each semester. These students are eligible for federal loans and must file the FAFSA to receive those awards.

Evening/Saturdays:
