Commencement May 17, 2008


STUDENT INSTRUCTION SHEET

(There will not be a practice for student participants for Honor’s Convocation, Baccalaureate and Commencement, so please read and follow these directions very carefully.  Faculty and Staff will be available to assist you during these ceremonies.)

 HONOR’S CONVOCATION
Friday, May 16th, 5:00 pm ~ Physical Education Center

  • This ceremony is to honor the undergraduate day program candidates with the Academic Department Awards.
  • All students who wish to participate may sit with their families, Students do not process.
  • Please do not wear your academic attire, appropriate dress attire is requested.
  • There will be a reception immediately following the Honor’s Convocation in the PEC for all students and their guests.

 

HOODING CEREMONY & BACCALAUREATE MASS
Saturday, May 17th, 10:00 am ~ Physical Education Center

  • All students who are processing in the Hooding and Baccalaureate Ceremony should meet in the Physical Education Center Cardio Center, no later than 9:15 am on Saturday, May 17, 2008. 
  • Be sure to bring your academic attire. Gowns should be pressed.
  • There will be Faculty and Staff available to assist you in properly donning your Academic Attire.
  • Hats are not to be worn for Baccalaureate.
  • Hood is carried over the right arm in preparation for The Hooding Ceremony.
  • Appropriate dress attire is requested, including sensible shoes.
  • Personal items, such as purses, can be kept in a classroom which will be locked during the ceremony.  You may not carry items to the PEC with you.
  • Line up as indicated by the procession sheet, which will be posted in the room (Graduates will line up two-by-two, grouped by degree (Master, Bachelor, Associate).
  • After Baccalaureate Mass there will be a lunch reception for all participants and their guests in the Alvernia College Student Center.

 

COMMENCEMENT
Saturday, May 17th, 2:00 pm ~ Sovereign Center

  • All students who are processing in the Commencement Ceremony should meet in the Assigned Dressing Room at the Reading Eagle Theatre of the Sovereign Center no later than 1:15 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2008.
  • Dressing Room Assignments will be posted at the Door of the Sovereign Center.
  • Be sure to bring your academic attire. Gowns should be pressed.
  • There will be Faculty and Staff available to assist you in properly donning your Academic Attire.
  • Your hood and hat are worn for Commencement.  Tassel goes on the right of your head.
  • Appropriate dress attire is requested, including sensible shoes.
  • Personal items, such as purses, can be kept in the dressing room which will be locked during the ceremony.  You may not carry items with you.
  • Line up as indicated by the procession sheet, which will be posted in the room (Graduates will line up two-by-two, grouped by degree - Master, Bachelor, and Associate).
  •  After Commencement there will be a light dessert reception for all participants and their guests in the Sovereign Center.
