WILLIAM RANDOLPH HEARST FOUNDATION FELLOWSHIPS 2004
Historic House Internship
The Mount Vernon Hotel Museum offers two summer fellowships for undergraduate or graduate students interested in U.S. history, material culture, historic preservation, museum studies, or museum education. The fellowship provides students with the opportunity to engage in scholarly research and to participate, first hand, in the inner-workings of a historic house museum, particularly the Museum’s education department. The fellowship program, now in its nineteenth year, is funded annually by the William Randolph Hearst Foundation. The appointment is full-time for a nine-week period during June and July, and carries a $2,750 stipend per fellow.
Applicants are strongly encouraged to visit the Museum’s website before applying for a fellowship. Fellowship applications may be downloaded from the website or obtained by calling the Museum.
To apply for the fellowship, students must submit the completed application form, an essay explaining the applicant’s interest in the fellowship, and two letters of recommendation. All applicants must be currently enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program. Application materials, including letters of recommendation, must be postmarked no later than Thursday, April 8, 2004 and sent to the address below. Applications sent by fax or email will not be accepted.
