Rooted in the Franciscan identity of Alvernia and its mission as a teaching and learning organization, the Center for Community Engagement will identify, cultivate, and sustain strategic partnerships that leverage campus talent and expertise in productive collaborations with key organizations and community members. Through these partnerships, the Center will strengthen student learning by making the community an important part of the curriculum; at the same time, Alvernia will further strengthen the quality of life in its communities. While especially attuned to the needs of Greater Reading, the Center seeks to foster in our graduates and all at Alvernia a life-long commitment to service and to the responsibilities of national and global citizenship.
