Credential packets are used to help you collect
all this information in one place. The credential
file is YOUR document; you control what goes into
it and who receives it.
Students are urged to work closely with the Education
Department in choosing materials to be included.
Typical entries will include transcripts, evaluations
from cooperating teachers, clearances, Praxis test
results and letters of recommendation.
A side note about the PORTFOLIO...
Increasingly, education graduates are using a
visual, portfolio presentation to further describe
and offer evidence of the skills and experiences
claimed in the resume. Entries are tremendously
varied given the background and skills of the applicant but
can include your resume, teaching certificate,
photographs, sample work, recommendation letters,
notes from parents and/or students, anything that
adds useful information regarding your employability.
The process of developing, organizing, and presenting
a portfolio can also be a useful exercise for a
teacher applicant. The self-examination,
review and focus required for portfolio design
are found to be helpful in answering interview
questions regarding goals, accomplishments and
challenges.
