Employment Objective

If you are looking for a teaching position, it is important to say so. You might also consider indicating preferences, if you have them;

Eg. "Elementary teaching position; preference for primary grades" Beware of "Elementary teaching position; grade 5" (too narrow, unless that is the ONLY grade you will consider).

If you are applying for a non-teaching job and choose to include an objective, make it targeted to what the employer will get, not what you will get. An alternative is to prepare different resumes for different types of jobs. This is made possible with word processing where content can be changed in a few keystrokes.

Opportunities are available outside the classroom. You may wish to consider positions in educational sales, training and development, educational administration, public relations, technical writing, human resources, student personnel, or a wide array of situations in the non-profit sector. You are urged to see Career Services staff to explore these opportunities and others.
