What can I do with a major in Communications ?

A communications degree is widely recognized as the backbone of a wide variety of fields. In addition to the traditional arenas of business application and media, the skills developed in a communication major are now viewed as vital in law, government, international relations, health and human and social services, education, speech and language disorders, arts and entertainment and information sciences.

Alvernia offers a major in communication that includes a broad spectrum of courses encompassing journalism, speech, film, and functional and creative writing for various media applications. Courses are structured to strengthen and develop practical experience in media-related fields through internships with local businesses, advertising agencies, and television and radio stations. English and communication courses may be selected to fulfill liberal arts core requirements.
