Bio
Kristen Nivison came to Alvernia in June of 2005 as Director
of Campus Ministry. Prior to her work at Alvernia, Kristen earned her BA
in History from Saint Anselm College (Manchester, NH) in 2002 and her MA
in Pastoral Ministry from Providence College (Providence, RI) in 2004. She
also spent a year as a member of the Capuchin Franciscan Volunteer Corps
during which she lived in community in inner-city Baltimore and worked at
an outreach center for the homeless and economically poor. Kristen’s
first job in higher education was in the Office of Residence Life at Cedar
Crest College.
As the Director of Campus Ministry, Kristen works with her staff to offer
spiritual, service, and peace and justice programming to the campus community.
She is passionate about many social justice issues, most especially working
toward an end of poverty. Her favorite part of her job is leading Alternative
Break trips to the Dominican Republic and El Salvador every year.
Having grown up outside Boston, Kristen is a proud member of Red Sox Nation.
She and her husband Ken live in Allentown with their four cats (yes, four).
