Nearly 800 students are earning advanced degrees at Alvernia. We also offer post-graduate options such as principal, superintendent, and teacher certifications. Alumni are offered a 25% discount on graduate programs.

“Alvernia is a place where you can make your mark,” says Dr. Rachel Maher. And she has. After graduating from, Rachel went to the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, where her liberal arts education gave her the solid foundation she needed to excel.
Fifteen years after graduating from Alvernia, she still remembers and lives the university’s motto—to learn, to love, to serve. “Alvernia’s mission is very important to all aspects of life,” she says. One of the ways she serves her community is through Give Kids a Smile, a national program that provides dental care to patients who can’t afford it and educates parents, health care providers, and daycare teachers on the importance of dental care.

From mentoring students to serving on committees, Alvernia University is blessed with many alumni and friends who share their time to benefit students at all levels.
Alumni and friends have chaired committees such as the 50th Anniversary Committee and the Values and Vision Comprehensive Campaign. The Board of Trustees comprises forty volunteers—campus, community, congregational, and business leaders—devoted to advancing the institution.
