After his freshman year at the University of North Carolina, Leon Stimpson decided that something was missing. He began to look for schools that offered an excellent academic program, a winning baseball team and a warm community where he would feel welcome. He selected Alvernia because it met his criteria.
“I felt Alvernia could make me grow, academically, athletically, and most importantly spiritually,” Leon said. “Alvernia had the three aspects I felt were the driving points in selecting a school.”
Leon easily transferred his credits in his sophomore year and is now a thriving Crusader who is involved with the baseball team and also actively participates in multiple clubs and organizations at “the Vern.” “My advice to anyone transferring is simple. Get involved,” he advises. “There is something at Alvernia for everyone.”
