Community Service

Alvernia College anticipates a new century of volunteerism in America with the inauguration of the Student Community Service Program. Dedication to service has been at the heart of the Franciscan heritage for more than 700 years. As a Franciscan institution, Alvernia College shares that heritage and strives to foster in the members of its community a deep commitment to a lifestyle of service. In keeping with Alvernia's heritage of charitable service, our four-year students are required to perform 40 hours of meaningful service to others before graduation. Our two year students are required to perform 20 hours of service. The community service requirement was established in the Fall of 1991.
