Connection Days

Campus Connection Days are an important step in getting off to a successful start at Alvernia. New freshmen take placement tests in reading, writing, and math, attend an advising session, review course descriptions, and complete a Course Preference Sheet that allows the Registrar to register you for your fall classes. Placement tests are critical to students’ academic success because they will allow us to determine the appropriate foundational courses for them to take in their first semester.
Students and parents are encouraged to visit the information fair that will provide information on a range of services and opportunities including the bookstore, Career Services, community engagement, campus ministry, and study abroad
Students will have their ID pictures taken at Connection Day and will receive their ID at New Student Orientation later in late August.
Students will have the opportunity to sign up for E2 Campus, Alvernia’s emergency information system. Sign up is easy, but important, and we look forward to getting new students linked to this contact system.
Parents may attend special sessions while students are attending placement testing and advising sessions. These sessions focus on understanding the billing process, understanding financial aid documents, procedures and policies, faculty expectations of students’ in their first year, issues concerning students’ right to privacy, and student codes of conduct. They may also attend optional sessions on residence life, campus safety and security, and athletics.
