About the Academic Coordinator of Clinical Education
Robin R Zappin, Ed.D, PT received her PT degree from Boston University, her Masters degree from New York University and her Ed.D from Teachers College, Columbia University. Prior to coming to Alvernia, Dr. Zappin was Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Long Island University from 1997-2002 where she taught multiple courses and oversaw student research projects. Upon relocating to Philadelphia in 2002, Dr. Zappin was an Assistant Professor at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia where she taught and coordinated the courses within the Integumentary track of the curriculum. Dr. Zappin is currently the owner of Zappin Physical Therapy LLC, an outpatient private practice in Spring House, PA and also works as a physical therapist for Abramson Center Home Care.
Dr Zappin’s clinical and research interests are in Burn rehabilitation and teaching. Dr. Zappin has seven peer reviewed publications and has presented numerous times at various medical and physical therapy conferences. Dr. Zappin also presented her research internationally to the World Congress of Physical Therapists in Yokohama, Japan in 1999. Dr. Zappin was awarded the Salant Award for Clinical Research from the New York Physical Therapy Association in 1995.
Since 1994, Dr. Zappin has been lecturing on Burn Rehabilitation to physical therapy programs in the tri-state area, and has been teaching continuing education lectures and workshops. Dr. Zappin also provides pro-bono educational workshops to yoga and Pilates teachers. Dr. Zappin is married with two children, studies and practices Asthanga Yoga and enjoys cooking seasonal, local grown produce.
