Sport Management Internships

Internships are an integral part of Alvernia’s Sport Management program. Alvernia has embraced and taken full advantage of the fact that Berks County and Reading citizens are sport enthusiasts, which has created unparalleled opportunities in the sport industry, including the opportunity to create a professional network spanning not only the Unites States, but the world. To illustrate the sport passion of Berks County, the following are a few of the famous sport figures that have been produced in the area:

• Pete Carril, NBA Hall of Fame, former NBA Asst. Coach and former Head Coach at Princeton
• Charlie “Broadway” Wagner, player, scout, and instructor for the Boston Red Sox, MLB

Due to the demand for sports in Berks County, Reading is the home to the following four professional sports teams:

• The Reading Phillies, AA Minor League Baseball
• The Reading Royals, ECHL Minor League Hockey
• The Reading Express, AIFA Indoor Football
• The Reading Railers, PBL Basketball Team

Moreover, the Reading Raptors is a semi-pro football team that competes in the NAFL and the Reading Rage is a soccer club that competes in the USL. In addition to these resources, students have opportunities to secure internships in all three segments of the sport industry, as the following list demonstrates:
