Dr. John M. Bindo joined Alvernia University in the Fall of 2015. His current class schedule for the Fall Semester includes Occupational Therapy Process and Kinesiology for the Occupational Therapy Practitioner.

Dr. Bindo studied Occupational Therapy at the University of Scranton. He later fostered his love for academia when he taught a course with a fellow professor in Supervision of Occupational Therapy Services while earning his second Masters in Health Administration. Desiring to educate himself in every facet of the long term care setting, he went on to obtain a licensure in Nursing Home Administration. Dr. Bindo is currently licensed to practice Occupational Therapy in both the states of Pennsylvania and New York. He is also a New York State Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and is certified by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT).

Dr. Bindo has practiced as an Occupational Therapist in the setting of in-patient rehab, gaining experience on the spinal cord, CVA, and orthopedic units. Additionally, he has experience as both long term care occupational therapist and as a home health care occupational therapist. His management experience surrounds long term care rehabilitation. He has been the Director of Rehabilitation in a 250 bed long term care facility in Pennsylvania and Director of Rehabilitation in a group of three nursing home facilities with a total number of 110 beds in New York. Dr. Bindo completed an Administrator in Training program in a 500 bed long term care facility with 5 acute hospital beds in New York, and most recently served as the Assistant Director of Rehabilitation in a 200 bed long term care/rehabilitation facility in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Bindo is a member and supporter of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), American College of Health Care Executives (ACHCA), Pennsylvania Occupational Therapy Association (POTA), and the Eastern Amputee Golf Association (EAGA).

In addition to transitioning into full-time academia, Dr. Bindo is continuing his lifelong learning commitment by working toward obtaining his Occupational Therapy Doctorate through Chatham University.

Dr. Bindo currently lives with his wife in Southhampton, PA., where he assists her with her Prosthodontic Dental Practice Management.
