The Program in Urban Education leading to a Master of Education Degree with Secondary (Grades 7-12) Teaching Certification curriculum is 55 credits (19 classes). The Education faculty uses various course formats to help you learn, including case studies, lecture/discussion, group projects and simulation exercises to ensure what you gain in one course will reinforce and build on what you learn in others.
Students with any bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or
university are eligible for entry into the program. The following undergraduate credit hours are required for acceptance: Composition (3 credits),
American or British Literature (3 credits), Mathematics (6 credits), and Content Evaluation or Praxis II. Also, the Praxis I - Reading, Praxis I - Writing, Praxis I - Mathematics, and Content Knowledge Praxis II must be passed prior to acceptance.
