Advanced Professional Studies - Overview

By choosing our Advanced Professional Studies major, you can design your own program of study to fit your educational, professional and personal goals. You decide on a theme and with the direction of a faculty advisor, you may choose from different disciplines to create the best learning experience that matches your interests and aspirations.

This major is an open and flexible program centered on the university’s core curriculum. You will benefit from the foundational courses important for all students, but also have the freedom to construct your own study plan.

Behavioral Health Studies - Overview

Do you want to make a difference in someone’s life? Are you interested in helping people lead healthier and more productive lives? Behavioral health issues affect a vast number of individuals in today’s society regardless of their age, socioeconomic status, or geographic location.

By enrolling in Alvernia’s Behavioral Health Studies program, you will gain both theoretical and practical training for professional roles in prevention and treatment settings. You can choose to concentrate in one of three areas:  chemical dependency, mental health, or child welfare.

You’ll find our faculty is dedicated to helping you succeed both in the classroom and in the field. Students participate in two field placements, which provide valuable exposure to work environments prior to graduation. Our graduates typically enter counseling, casework, and administrative positions in their chosen area of concentration.
