Associate Degree in Liberal Studies
Program Highlights
The Associate Degree in Liberal Studies is a self-designed program of study for students whose academic needs are not answered in other program offerings. Students who choose this option are typically interested in interdisciplinary study where they can gain a broad academic background in preparation for further study or career entry.
The degree program is flexible, providing both a solid foundation and a program tailored to the student’s individual goals. Students are responsible for developing a theme and study plan. The plan must demonstrate how it supports their academic goals and career interests.
Upon completion of the Liberal Studies program, students should have an academic background sufficient to transfer into a baccalaureate degree program, if they so choose.
Approval of Study Plan
Students will submit a rationale for their desired program of study – and the courses that will constitute it – to the Dean of Graduate and Continuing Studies. Following approval from the Dean, each student will then be assigned an advisor from the Graduate and Continuing Studies Program. Students should declare their intention to pursue the Liberal Studies major to the Registrar.
