Awards

Special Agent Charles Reed Memorial Award
In May 1997 the Criminal Justice Major presented the Special Agent Charles L. Reed Memorial Award in honor of its namesake who was killed in the line of duty as a Special Agent of the Federal Bureau of Investigation on March 22, 1996 during a federal drug investigation. The award is presented annually to the graduating senior in the Criminal Justice Major who best exemplifies the character traits of Fidelity, Bravery, and Integrity (the FBI motto) in the pursuit of the degree. The 2001 recipient was Theresa Bray.

Saint Michael Award
This award which is named after the patron saint of law enforcement is presented to the graduating senior who makes a special contribution to the class through example as a role model of behavior in a particular area that stands out among the students. The 2001 recipient was Sarah Newton.

Academic Excellence Award
This award is presented to the graduate with the highest academic average who attended Alvernia College for all four years of the college career. The 2001 recipient was Josie Fink.

Academic Achievement Award
This award is presented to the graduate with the highest academic average who is a transfer student. The 2001 recipient was Greta Young.

Criminal Justice Association Award
This award is presented to the student who exemplifies the core values of leadership and service to others through dedication to the Criminal Justice Major and participation in the Criminal Justice Association . The 2001 recipient was Christine Werner.

Outstanding Intern Award
This award is presented to the student who performs the professional practicum in an exemplary fashion including the agency experience, seminar presentation, and written report. The 2001 recipient was Nadeena DelVecchio.

Saint Thomas More Honor Society Award
This award is presented to the student who exemplifies the core values of leadership and service to others through scholarly dedication to the Major and the Society. The 2001 recipient was Theresa Bray.

Law Enforcement Track Award
This award is presented to the student with the highest grade point average who graduates from the Reading Police Academy as part of the Law Enforcement Track. The 2001 recipient was Timothy Katzaman.

Criminal Justice Alumni Chapter Award
Presented by the chapter to the student who best demonstrates a potential leadership role as an Alvernia Alumnus through outstanding leadership, scholarship, and service as an undergraduate.  The 2001 recipient was Greta Young.
