Alvernia is a Catholic, Franciscan college dedicated to the ideals of professional and community service and personal fulfillment. The college's Computer Information Systems programs stress the application of technology to business, communication, criminal justice, mathematics, or science. Computer Information Systems majors must declare an area of concentration in one of these disciplines.

Alvernia's liberal arts core helps Computer Information Systems majors to become proficient in the essential skills of communication, organization, and leadership, and teaches them to think critically in decision-making and problem-solving situations. This broad-based approach prepares each student to succeed in a professional position and to develop the attributes necessary for career advancement.
