Academics - Business Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM)The purpose of the Society for Human Resource Management is to acquaint students seeking careers in management, human resource management or labor relations with current issues and trends in these fields. Our Superior Merit winning student chapter is recognized locally by the Berks County SHRM Chapter. Sponsorship affords our students networking opportunities with professional chapter members during monthly meetings. The professional chapter also helps to sponsor events such as our on-campus Job Fair. Student members have been active participants in various community events such as Toys for Tots Road Run and MADD fund raisers. In addition, students attend national and state conferences. Click here for more information about SHRM . SHRM has participated in Christmas on Campus, the Turkey Drive, and Trick-or-Treat for Unicef as service projects. Members of SHRM attended the 2005-2006 national conference in Washington, DC and the 2006-2007 national conference in Las Vegas, Nevada. SHRM also brings speakers to campus to assist in professional development of students and takes students off campus for development in the form of internships, job shadows, and workshops. SHRM hosted the 2006-2007 Alvernia College Career Fair in April, with hopes that it will become an annual event! Chapter Officers:
