Addiction Studies Students Addiction Studies Society
Membership in the Addiction Studies Society is open to all Alvernia College Students who share an interest in the topics associated with substances of abuse and the variety of issues embodied in the study of addiction. The Society encourages professional growth in the field of addiction to promote greater understanding of chemical dependency treatment as an essential academic discipline and profession. Students meet regularly to sponsor programs of common interest and provide networking opportunities.

Mentor Program
New students, at their request, will be assigned a mentor or shadow for their first semester at Alvernia. The goal of the program is for new students to have an experienced upper class student who will be available to answer questions about the major, help with some day-to-day problems, and escort the new student to campus activities, especially the Criminal Justice/Addiction Studies activities. Although the program is structured to last during the first semester, longer friendships are usually established.
