Other Good People

Deb Schlosser is Alvernia’s new men’s head volleyball coach. The team will compete in the Middle Atlantic Conference beginning in spring of 2017. Schlosser most recently served as the assistant men's volleyball coach at Kean University. Prior to Kean, she was the boy’s varsity head coach at Emmaus High School.

Resident Director Don Brennan is now editor of the Mid-Atlantic Association of College and University Housing Officers (MACUHO) magazine. Don and Resident Director Kevin Battersby are serving on the 2016 MACUHO Conference Planning Committee.

Alvernia’s Marquis Marshall was named First Team All-MAC Commonwealth Men’s Basketball team, and Charles Cooper was named to the second team. Our team won the regular season championship.

Ashley Stoltzfus nearly broke the one-minute mark in the 400 meter dash posting a school-record 1:00.14 to finish third as the Alvernia team went on to set six school records at the MAC Women’s Indoor Track Championships. Ashley also ran legs in the 4x200m and 4x400m events that set new school records.

Synapse Sports and Longstreth named field hockey’s Margaret Wentzel to their first team All-American squads. Margaret was also the MAC Commonwealth Offensive Player of the Year, which was accompanied by being first team all-conference. Still only a junior, Margaret is emerging as one of our all-time greats in a sport that has a long tradition of competitive excellence at the Vern.
