Points of Pride

Hoop Dreams: Our men’s basketball team added to their winning tradition, bringing home the ECAC South Region Championship in dramatic fashion with 93-85 overtime win over Catholic University. It was Alvernia’s second ECAC title and Coach Mike Miller’s first. Congratulations to Mike and the team!

Surf’s Up: Web surfers have taken note of recent upgrades made to Alvernia’s website courtesy of our in-house Marketing, Design and IT experts. Improvements in site navigation, visual appeal and access to frequently visited pages are helping boost site traffic and supporting enrollment success.

Service with a smile: Campus Ministry organized three alternative spring break trips earlier this month to Reading, Washington D.C., and Niceville Fla. Nearly 30 students participated in related activities to aid the homeless, help the environment and assist those in need.

Up and over: Junior Melissa Fellenbaum became the first Crusader to compete in the NCAA Indoor Track Championships earlier this month and finished tied for ninth in the nation with an 11’ 9” effort in the pole vault. She also won the MAC Women's Pole Vault event and was named to the All-ECAC women’s team.

On the road: The Seniors College has developed a new partnership with Keystone Villa to deliver its first Summer Outreach Program. Residents at the Villa will have the option to enroll in a number of different sessions that will be delivered onsite. In addition, the college has also re-established a relationship with Phoebe Berks Village and will be offering a course there this spring.
