Plans are in place to update important teaching and learning spaces across campus this summer in the Franco Library, Bernardine Hall and Francis Hall. These projects, totaling over $600,000, are funded through annual capital budget allocations and represent the 2012 priorities from the Teaching and Learning Plan, launched in 2009.
Franco Library: The popular Learning Commons will be expanded by further reducing book stacks on the first floor, allowing for additional group study areas (including enclosed study rooms), work stations, computers and individual study opportunities. Creating off-site library storage (primarily periodicals & journals) at the Administrative Services Building on Morgantown Road will make many of these important improvements possible. Needed repairs on the capstones of the building will also be made.
Bernardine Hall: Furniture, technology, carpet and paint updates to four classrooms in Bernardine's North Wing on the second floor will be completed over the summer along with preliminary improvements on the first floor. Plans are being developed for substantial upgrades to the first floor, to be finished in summer 2013.
Francis Hall: Classrooms in Francis Hall will begin to be updated with better technology and new furniture, carpet and paint.
Peace and All Good,
