Places

Throughout Homecoming festivities, returning alums and other guests were thrilled with the appearance of campus. Important campus renovations were completed this summer, so for now we have a neat and clean campus without excessive dust, dirt and dumpsters.

The new healthcare wing and mathematics suite in Bernardine Hall has attracted rave reviews from students and offers outstanding instructional facilities. Renovations in the Physical Education Center, including a major sprucing up of the exterior façade and the expansion of the Courtside Café, have revitalized this important facility. Students are gathering here and the adjacent Campus Commons from dusk to (almost) dawn!

Reading City Council approved a 50-year extension of our lease for parts of Angelica Park. Under the agreement, Alvernia is granted rights to use the parking lot and open recreation areas nearby, all of which will be maintained by the university. Our partner, the Berks County Conservancy, will take over full operation and programming of the Environmental Exploration Center, as well as the neighboring wetlands. The lease requires the conservancy to build its new headquarters at the center within five years.
