Upcoming South Reading Youth Initiative Events

South Reading Youth Initiative - February 2010 calendar

After-School Program (Monday and Wednesdays beginning February 1st)

The South Reading Youth Initiative will hold programming on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on February 1st, from 2:30 - 5:00 pm at St. Peter's Church in downtown Reading. Students will have the opportunity to get homework help from Alvernia student volunteers as well as participate in fun and educational activities provided by the Junior Achievement, Reading Tennis and Recreation, Healthy Kids Presentations and Salsa Dance Lessons. This program is free of charge with a snack included everyday. Students eligible to participate in the South Reading Youth Initiative must be between the ages of 7 -14 and live or go to school in the South Reading area. Storybook Creations Workshop (Tuesdays beginning February 2nd)

On Tuesdays, the South Reading Youth Initiative will sponsor a Storybook Creations Workshop at the Yocum Insitute for Arts Education. Students will be picked up at St. Peter's Church on South 5th Street at 3:20 pm and be transported to the Yocum Institute. There students will have the opportunity to create stories in many different mediums under the guidance of Yocum Institute instructors and Alvernia student helpers. Students will return to St. Peter's Church at 5:30 pm for pick-up. Students who attend St. Peter's School can participate in an hour of homework help at St. Peter's School before the Career Exploration Workshop. This program is free of charge with a snack included everyday. Students eligible to participate in the South Reading Youth Initiative must be between the ages of 7-14 and live or go to school in the South Reading area.
