South Reading Youth Initiative - September 2009 calendar
After-School Program (Monday and Wednesdays beginning September 9th)
The South Reading Youth Initiative will hold programming on Mondays and Wednesdays, beginning on September 9th, from 2:30 - 5:00 pm at St. Peter's Church in downtown Reading. Students will have the opportunity to get homework help from Alvernia student volunteers as well as participate in fun and educational activities provided by the Council on Chemical Abuse, the Reading Eagle and others. This program is free of charge with a snack included everyday. Students eligible to participate in the South Reading Youth Initiative must live or go to school in the South Reading area. Career Exploration Workshop (Tuesdays beginning September 15th)
On Tuesdays, the South Reading Youth Initiative will sponsor a Career Exploration Workshop at Alvernia University. Students will be picked up at St. Peter's Church on South 5th Street at 3:30 pm and be transported to Alvernia University's campus. On campus students will have the opportunity to meet professionals from a variety of careers including; nurses, photographers, environmentalists, professors, dancers, and many more. Students will return to St. Peter's Church at 5 pm for pick-up. Students who attend St. Peter's School can participate in an hour of homework help at St. Peter's School before the Career Exploration Workshop. This program is free of charge with a snack included everyday. Students eligible to participate in the South Reading Youth Initiative must live or go to school in the South Reading area.
