Ph.D. in Leadership
Alvernia’s Ph.D. program is designed to examine leadership from theoretical, historical, social, economic, cultural, and moral perspectives. This program is directed by Dr. Tufan Tiglioglu. The program takes a unique perspective through an interdisciplinary examination of leadership within three distinct contexts: education, community, and corporate leadership.
Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility
The
Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility certification program is offered as an option along with the Ph.D. in Leadership degree. This program is directed by
Sister Margaret Dougherty. The program seeks to develop committed educational professionals that can lead with vision and courage, acting as creative agents to address the many cultural, political, social, and economic challenges that confront schools today. The intent is for these leaders to act ethically and responsibly, based on the tenets taught both through the mission of the University and the intent of the doctoral/certification program.
Sustainable Community Development
The
Master of Arts in Liberal Studies program is designed to develop leaders for sustainable community development. This program is directed by
Dr. Carrie Fitzpatrick. The program is designed to develop community leaders capable of reflecting on their worldviews and what it means to be liberally educated. This program challenges students to take intellectual risks by examining theory while at the same time seeking ways to empower our many communities as they seek ways to preserve their culture and the environment for future generations.
Leadership Berks
Leadership Berks is an executive leadership development program that engages community leaders and partners in projects to enhance the Berks County region. The program is directed by
Ms. Toni Eckert. This program has already provided more than 100 projects empowering not-for-profit organizations in the region.
Service-Learning
Alvernia's
Service-Learning program is committed to providing students with learning opportunities while in service with our many communities.
Dr. Jodi Radosh, Associate Professor of Communications, manages this program in her capacity as Associate Director of the Holleran Center for Community Engagement. The Center provides support for participating undergraduate students and faculty.
